Installing an attendance terminal involves the mounting position, power, connection, user enrolment and the software receiving its records. Review the intended position

The device should be usable at its actual installation position. Consider user access, available power and networking, and the conditions relevant to the verification method. Face, fingerprint and card devices have different model-specific requirements; they should not be treated as interchangeable because they perform attendance registration.

Establish the connection method

Check the methods supported by the terminal and the intended software. Record the agreed network settings and clarify who administers the network. Device communication, licence availability and employee synchronisation must be checked separately; an online indicator alone is not a complete acceptance test.

Enrol and test a small sample

Create or review employee identifiers before enrolling users. Test the supported verification method with authorised sample users and confirm that records arrive against the correct identity. If an alternative credential is required, verify that the model supports it and that the business approves its use.

Acceptance checks

• Correct model, mounting and the agreed user-access arrangement.
• Correct date and time and communication with the intended destination.
• Successful enrolment and repeat use by the sample users.
• Arrival of attendance movements in the expected software or supported export.
• Demonstration of administrator tasks and the agreed backup or record-retention process.

Do not confuse attendance with door control
