Confirm compatibility and ownership first
Identify the software product and version, its licence and the device models and firmware. ZKTeco publishes version-specific information and supported-device material; a shared brand name does not establish compatibility. Prepare the installation environment
The selected version’s requirements determine the appropriate host, database and supported operating environment. Assign responsibility for installation access, network connectivity, backups and administration. Public exposure of an attendance server should not be treated as a routine shortcut for connecting devices.
Build consistent employee records
Agree employee identifiers, departments and the process for adding or disabling staff. Duplicate or mismatched identifiers can create reporting problems even when devices appear online. Review existing records before importing them, and establish whether supported transfer is available or users need to be enrolled again.
Configure and test the attendance rules
